AKLA collaborated with a local builder and developer on a 70-unit affordable tiny home community in Fruita, Colorado. With an inflated market, the intention was to create a community driven neighborhood for young professionals and families. The design integrated rear-loaded alleyways and garages, enhancing curb appeal by keeping vehicle access discreet while maintaining pedestrian-friendly streetscapes. With alley loaded garages, Front Porches pushed close to the sidewalks encourage social interaction fostering a welcoming neighborhood atmosphere. Pocket neighborhoods and green spaces create intimate clusters of homes with shared outdoor areas to promote a sense of community. The landscape includes drought-resistant plants and efficient irrigation to minimize water usage while maintaining aesthetic appeal. Community trails and amenities connect homes to a central hub featuring a pool, bocce courts, and outdoor gathering spaces for recreation and socialization.
