Libbytown Roundabout MDOT

AKLA has played an important role in the design and planning of the Libbytown district of Portland for years. In 2020, AKLA developed conceptual plans for retrofitting the land around the Exit 5 interchange. AKLA’s conceptual plans helped bring more attention to the area and in 2024 AKLA joined an engineering team in further developing plans for a new roundabout and reconfigured interchange at Congress and Park Avenues. AKLA’s concepts include a robust planting and public art program, new seating, multi-use pathways, and lighting.
