Once a bustling municipal hub for the Town of Brunswick, Maine. The firehouse, now decommissioned, was identified by the town for potential re-use. AKLA teamed with a talented group of architects and developers to visualize the adaptive re-use of the building as well as the surrounding urban block. The concepts AKLA developed, which were a major influencing factor in winning the competitive Request for Proposals commission, envisions activating the currently underutilized surface parking in exchange for green alleys, shared lanes, and green space which will bring new life to the old building.
