Lakeside Cabins

AKLA collaborated with Kaplan Thompson Architects to design a cluster of lakeside cabins that blend the openness of a clearing with the intimacy and character of a forest retreat. Though situated in an open area, the landscape design evokes the feeling of being nestled in the woods, with native plantings and carefully placed trees reinforcing a sense of seclusion and connection to nature. The cabins are arranged in a village-like formation centered around a communal fire pit, fostering interaction and a shared camp experience. A network of trails connects the cabins to the main camp and to lakeside paths that link neighboring camps, grounding the project in its natural setting and enhancing its sense of place.
