AKLA worked closely with Michael Bennett Homes, developer of River Ranch, in Aspen, Colorado, to create an elegant site design with clean lines that riff off of the architectural forms and materials. The autocourt creates an intimate and private feeling surrounded on three sides by the home and planted with massings of low ground cover and a formal grid of trees. On the back side of the house there is a generously sized pool with spaces for lounging and a covered fireplace and grill for outdoor dining. Linear concrete steps surrounded by a massing of Red Twig Dogwood lead down to an open lawn perched above Maroon Creek. Bedrooms with linear steel planters also spill out onto the lawn embracing an indoor-outdoor synergy.
