Squam Lake

AKLA worked with a lovely family and architecture team to create a dream lakehouse on Squam Lake for gathering, relaxation, and connection with nature. The design features an ‘upper house’ for games and recreation and ‘lower house’ for lodging near the lake. The landscape is simply curated with a discrete autocourt and vegetative screening, a bridge over drainage that wraps around the house, boardwalks, native gardens and ‘rewilding’, and access to the water.
