Edgewood

The arrival at Edgewood is a gracious stone-clad autocourt with stone site walls to delineate the autocourt extents. Upon entering the interior of the home from the autocourt there is a beautiful, cantilevered, bridge with glazing on both sides perched over a descending streambed designed by AKLA. To create this feature AKLA had to carefully grade the site and strategically consider earthwork implications and drainage. Water is intentionally moved from an existing outlet at the top of the site, under the architectural bridge, and over to a pond located beyond the architecture and the outdoor rooms connected to the home. The boulders were drawn and modeled in 3D to accurately inform character and construction. The plan also consists of stone terraces that include an outdoor fire feature and spa.
