Situated high in the Maroon Creek Valley, Celestial builds upon the sheer power of the dramatic avalanche-scoured landscape with a simple and elegant, yet massive gesture, grounding the structure in the ledgy slopes as if formed naturally over millennia. The massive debris wall, developed as a close collaboration between the AKLA, architectural, engineering, and planning teams acts as a plinth for the homes upper floor projection peering out across the valley below and protecting the homes from avalanches and landslides. AKLA developed driveway alignments, entry and arrival sequence concepts, and garden spaces for this iconic home above Aspen, Colorado.
